I continue to feel privileged when individuals and couples allow me to assist them in meeting their personal goals. After recognizing the need for additional support, many feel vulnerable and even overwhelmed in taking that first step.

From our first session, I thrive to provide each individual or couple with a safe space to explore their experiences and emotions. I am committed to serving each person with compassion and empathy.

I specialize in working with couples navigating challenges, including but certainly not limited to, mismatched sexual desire, infidelity, betrayal trauma, rebuilding trust, and monogamy agreements.   I also work with individuals seeking symptom management associated with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and most other mental health diagnoses.

Couples and/or individuals, dealing with sexual desire, or sexuality will be supported in this setting and certainly not made to feel embarrassed.

When infidelity occurs, it’s beyond devastating. It’s common to not know where or how to start dealing with betrayal trauma. Most couples feel that even if their relationship does survive, it will be forever damaged. This does not have to be the case. Betrayal presents in several forms (physical, emotional, pornography, virtual (to name only a few). Unfaithful partners can feel an overwhelming sense of shame and uncertainty in how to help their partner and themselves. An affair, of any type, doesn’t have to end your relationship. The unfaith partner is likely a good person, and that makes sense of why the betrayed partner is trying to save the relationship.  Your relationship can emerge stronger and so can you.

No matter your goals, secrets, shame, or journey, I am honored to hear your story.

Are your relationships with family and friends suffering? Sometimes you feel you’re out of control or need something you cannot put your finger on. No matter what, I will come alongside you and your family to provide guidance and support. There is no problem too big to work through. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults dealing with behavior and anger issues, equipping me with a unique perspective to assist you and your family with your daily interactions effectively.

I am Mindy, a licensed professional counselor at Frame of Mind Psychiatry, LLP. I moved to the upstate 17 years ago after my marriage to my high school sweetheart ended. It was the most freeing move to happen in my life up to that point. Moving to the upstate has been one freeing and growing experience after another. I primarily grew up in Southern California but have lived in five different states: Idaho, California, Washington, Colorado, and now South Carolina. Growing up in Southern California, with my sister and brother, I always felt like the outsider and the ugly duckling. I had to work twice as hard as them to get any recognition at school or anytime in public. Leaving, along with therapy and my divorce, helped me realize that I am perfect as I am, and I don’t have to be someone I am not. I have realized that I like the laid-back living of the upstate. Living in so many diverse cultures, Hispanic, African American, and such has given me the opportunity to learn firsthand about different cultures and what their beliefs are when it comes to mental health.

Since 2010, I have worked with a vast array of populations and settings in the mental health field. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in schools, group homes, community mental health centers run by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, non-profit settings, and my personal private practice just to name a few. While working for the Department of Mental Health, I worked in the schools as a mental health counselor. I worked at every level of school. I enjoy working with the school age population so much that back in 2017, I earned my second Masters of Science in School Counseling.

Since entering the field, I have always enjoyed working with clients who have anger issues. I came to this realization when I began working in an elementary school as their mental health counselor. Although I enjoy working with clients who exhibit anger, they are not the only clients who I enjoy working with, I cannot narrow it down to my absolute favorite. I like working with people who present with life issues and need to talk it out with a non-judgmental person who cares unconditionally. I treat each client as an individual since no two clients are the same even if they are both presenting with the same disorder. That’s what makes my career so interesting and keeps me on my toes. I have been trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Client Centered Approach, and others but I like to treat each client individually since no treatment fits all clients. The approach that I use with a client will be evidence-based, culturally sensitive, and non-biased based on your orientation.

When I am not working, you can find me enjoying one of my many hobbies. I tend to be a jill-of-all-trades. I can be found in my garage painting, sewing, teaching my nieces and nephews, riding horses, reading, doing math, there are so many other things that I do when not at work. Sometimes, I overload myself and must force myself to stop adding more things. No matter what, my clients and career will always come first. Once you become my client, you become like family to me.
